What happened when I finally got on my rebounder — and why you might feel worse before you feel better.
After just a few days of bouncing on my new rebounder, I started feeling… off. My body ached, I was sluggish, and my skin broke out in weird places — under my arms, near my breasts, along my jawline. At first, I blamed it on the chaos of a long 4th of July weekend filled with parties and people (which, as an introvert, drains me to the core).
But when I looked closer, I realized something else was going on. The breakouts were showing up right where major lymph nodes live. And the achy, flu-like feeling? It wasn’t just exhaustion — it was a classic sign of “rebounder flu.”
Rebounding (aka gentle bouncing on a mini trampoline) is incredible for the lymphatic system — especially for those of us who sit a lot, don’t sweat daily, or are just starting to detox more intentionally.
But here’s the catch: when your lymph finally starts moving, it dumps waste, toxins, and stagnant junk into the bloodstream so your body can filter it out.
That’s when the detox symptoms hit:
Headaches
Body aches
Fatigue
Skin breakouts (especially around lymph-heavy areas like the underarms and chest)
Mild congestion or “crash” feelings
Here’s what I did to gently support my body through the process — without suppressing the detox:
🌿 1. Essential Oils on the Feet at Night
I mixed On Guard and Oregano essential oils and applied them to the bottoms of my feet, then pulled on a pair of cozy socks.
This helped boost immunity while I slept — and it’s a great backdoor route for getting oils into the bloodstream gently.
Tip: Make sure to dilute oregano oil — it’s potent!
🧄 2. Raw Garlic & Honey Before Bed
I crushed one clove of fresh garlic and let it sit for a minute to activate allicin, then mixed it with raw honey and ate it before bed.
This combo is anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and wildly effective for kicking bugs (real or detox-induced) out of the system.
💧 3. Hydration + Trace Minerals
I upped my water intake big time and added trace mineral drops to every bottle. You don’t want to flush without replacing the good stuff too.
🛁 4. Gentle Movement + Epsom Salt Baths
Instead of pushing through, I backed off the intensity and swapped to light bouncing or walking. I also took warm Epsom salt baths to help pull toxins through the skin and calm inflammation.
🧘♀️ 5. Rest + Nervous System Support
I gave myself permission to rest. More sleep, less screen time, and more breathwork (I use box breathing or legs-up-the-wall to regulate). When your lymph system is kicking up dust, your nervous system needs calm to process it all.
If you’ve recently started rebounding and feel like you caught the flu — don’t panic. It’s likely just your lymphatic system waking up and finally doing its job. Give it love, go slow, and support the detox instead of stopping it.
This is your body healing. It just doesn’t always feel like it in the moment.
